Question about SSL, Please help

hello, I have a VPS with cPanel WHM installed.

I consider myself fairly knowledgeable but don't know much about SSL.

I would like to be able to add a certificate that will work with https://cpanel.mydomain.com so that any client wanting secure access to their cpanel can go there.

I would appreciate any general information, tips, or links to this topic.

I tried to a free trial ssl for cpanel.mydomain.com, but when I went to install it in WHM i got this error message:

The specified domain is not configured on the system.
SSL Install aborted due to error.

..Even though it was listed as configured by cpanel (when you push the browse button on the "Install a SSL Certificate and Setup the Domain" page)

Feedback would be greatly appretiated.

Yeah I think you need to do that differently, I assume when you put https://cpanel.mydomain.com you really mean https://hostname.domain.com right?

If so try to install this certificate at WHM >> Main >> Service Configuration >> Manage Service SSL Certificates

Which is server certificates and is different than doing regular domain certificates.
