Then also, is it possible to have the access link point to an outside url instead of an internal file?

We are actually working on functionality (in the EDGE build for those interested) which will allow you to add icons that redirect to an outside URL to the interface very easily through the branding editor. You would also be able to specify the hight/width of the icon.

Of course, nothing stops you from writing a plugin that merely redirects to an outside URL once activated.

I opened the file up in an editor

I see

url:

I changed this to

url:http://www.domain.com/

This worked fine, however, any idea how I can get this to open up as a new page?
