rare files at /tmp

I was looking at my /tmp directory and I saw lot of files like this:
-rwx------ 1 nobody nobody 0 Sep 15 16:44 _16124_99_0.wrk*
I've lot of servers and never saw a file like that, does anyone knows about this ?

mod_gzip temporary files. They exist only for the length of the request, unless the webserver crashes. They are save to remove.
