    Default rebuild named

    Hi
I have googled and search the forums but can't find a solution for this one.

I have a lot of old domains in my /var/named directory and also we have made a number of changes to the domain template and would like to apply that to all domains.

    I have tried running /scripts/cleandns and /scripts/builddnsconf
but all the old domains stayed there.

I then deleted the contents of /var/named and ran builddnsconf
but it has just created the basics and not the actual domains that do exist. (I do have a backup)

Is there a script I can run that will re-create all the /var/named files?

    Regards
    Anthony

I'm not aware of one, I think you'll have to modify each zone manually. There are tools to rebuild named.conf, but not to rebuild the actual zone files.

I wondered if you switched to NSD, emptied /var/named and then switched back to BIND whether it would work, but NSD uses the same zone files in /var/named/.

Thanks. I did try the change from BIND to NSD, but it uses the same files in /var/named

    I found a script at

which I am looking at changing to use the /scripts/add_dns command
and it seems that will do the job.
