Talking Recommendation on how to configure Apache/PHP

    Hi,

I am starting up a webhost and I've got everything up and running I just have one question before I launch it.

How would you build Apache/PHP using EasyApache for a webhost? Are there any settings you recommend editing?

Also right now I have Softaculous and CSF are there any other plugins you recommend getting?

    Thanks,
    Carl

In this kind of environment its an absolute must to have mod_suphp and su_exec enabled.

Also choose apache 2.2.x and PHP 5.2.12 (current latest build offered by easyapache, do not compile with 5.3 until they release a fully stable version of Zend, so many scripts depend on Zend and it wont presently work with PHP 5.3).

Also compile with mod_security and get the latest core rules (I believe gotroot is the best place to look for those).

mod_perl if you have more than 2gb of ram, its great but memory hungry.

Add dos-deflate (but see this post about modifying the script - http://blog.everymanhosting.com/webh...-ip-addresses/ )

Just my 'off the top of my head' two cents worth

It should automatically, just remember to recompile Apache/PHP after upgrading Mysql so they play nice together.

And i would also recommend including GD, Curl and TTF when compiling PHP.

I second Tam on PHP 5.3.1 Keep Away from it... lol

I actually just had an issue with Drupal where most of my site ran perfectly well except for a major module I use... Rolled back to 5.2.12!

cpanelkevin, is there a way to automate that?
