    Default RedHat 9

Hello, Im just wondering if Redhat 9 has some security issues that allows hackers to gain access to the OS very easy. Im not blaming Cpanel for this never would, Cpanel is a well constructed peice of software which in the past Ive never had problems with, but my webserver has been hacked twice within 2 months. So Im wondering if to change to Fedora Core 3 and seeing if the stabilty and security is better than Redhat 9, Could some Cpanel devs/mods give me some advice on the prefered OS that Cpanel likes. Also other server admins thoughts are more than welcome

    Regards
    Nathan

Did you keep the server up to date? As much as possible at least, since it is not officially supported anymore.

    http://www.fedoralegacy.org/updates/RH9/

Currently I think CentOS is the most popular OS for CPanel servers.

What do you mean with running updates weekly?

Did you have latest kernel compiled from source, and did you install all the relevant fedora legacy updates manually? Running cpanel updates isn't enough.

Do you have any idea from the logs how they got in?

Anyway, I would recommend CentOS as your next OS

I wouldn't suggest Fedora Core, stick with CentOS, it is the same as RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) but it's free. Just do some searches around here on fedora core and centos. No point in using RH9 anymore if you're forced to do a OS reload.
