Reformat/Reinstall

Hi

I was wondering is it possible to reformat and reinstall the OS and cpanel/whm on a remote server?

Are there any walkthroughs for this?

Or simply is it possible if anything was to go wrong would I be able to do this if needed?

It can be done by someone physically there to do the work. After all, once a hard drive is formatted, how many ways can it be accessed?

What I thought to be honest...

But its $75 for an OS reload :/
