Remaining files after deleting an account, may I manually delete them?

    Default Remaining files after deleting an account, may I manually delete them?

    Hi, I just noticed that every time you delete an account, cPanel doesn't delete all the related files.

    I see some files with the name of deleted accounts, i.e.:

    why didn't cPanel delete it when the accounts were terminated?

    From where are you terminating accounts? Which WHM/cPanel version are you using?

    We didn't face such kind of issue.

    Hi. I'm running cPanel 11.24.4-S35075 - WHM 11.24.2
    The accounts are being terminated as always, from the "Terminate an Account" menu at WHM.

    I don't know if the files I found are mantained by cPanel in order to provide statistical data. That's why I'm wondering if may I sometime need them for any reason.

    I think you'd be ok to kill these. When in doubt back it up first.
    None of them are of any real size to be worried about.

    Why cPanel does not remove them completely I can't answer though. You might want to check bugzilla for this to see if there is one logged.

    This one is concerning removing a reseller account but the same sorts of files are mentioned in the bug.
    Bug 1106 - Need to clean up reseller acct removal.

    ok, I added an entry for that bug. That bug haven't been updated since 2007, so I think this issue is not as important as we can figure out. but in the other hand, they (cPanel staff) haven't confirm in any moment if those files may be deleted without any harm.

    We have a lot of domains having being deleted and cleaning the mess is mandatory.

    The bandwidth files will be cleaned up automatically in cPanel 11.25

    The domain logs should be cleaned up after the next log processing occurs.

    I'll submit the other list items to see whether we can get those automatically cleaned during account termination.

    Great. I'm anxious to see what improvements will bring 11.25.
    BTW, until cPanel can be able to automatically delete these files, I'll wait for your confirmation about deleting the listed ones automatically.

    We are actually running cPanel 11.24.4-S35075 - WHM 11.24.2, but always have been deleting accounts, from the start, even when you create a testdrive account. We are using cPanel since WHM 11.2.0 cPanel 11.6.0-R15076, circa 2007, and I just found that all the accounts deleted since that point have left the listed files behind. That's why it is a mess. I don't know why others aren't experimenting the same issue. This box runs on CentOS 4.6; maybe this fact impacts by any way in this issue.
