Remove server from SORBS

Hello,

Our server is listed on the SORBS spam blacklist due to a user that was spamming. The user account has now been terminated.

The SORBS delisting info says we need to request a delisting from the affected host.

Can someone advise how this can be done with no internet browser on the cPanel server.

Most of the time blocks at SORBS are done on a time basis. The time blocked gets larger each offense. If you own your network aka the IP addresses are in your name you can attempt to contact them. If you don't you might consider asking your provider's abuse department to give them a ring. Most of the time they have contacts who can smooth things along.

Using Enkompass compared to cPanel is like going to a MacDonald’s in France, sure they’ve got the same things we have over here, but it’s a little different.

Closing

As an aside, SORBS announced they are likely closing on July 20, 2009. Many folks are already jumping ship. Should you find it difficult to get de-listed it may not be a great issue in 2 or 3 weeks.

Sending them email from the blacklisted server is generally sufficient
as they maintain a whitelisted email address that ignores SORBs checks
for the purposes of delisting.

However, as serversphere previously pointed out above, SORBS may or
may not be closing effective July 20th so your being listed may not be
a big issue in and of itself as far as this database is concerned.

It may be a much more relevent issue to do what you can to make sure
that you don't get listed in the future in any other blacklist databases.
I know you said that the offending user has been terminated but what
have you done to prevent future exploits? It just so happens that I am
an expert in that specific area and could give you a few good pointers
or more one on one direct assistance hardening down the security on
your server(s) and account(s) so that this doesn't happen again.

If you would like any help, just drop me a private message or otherwise
get my attention around here and I'll be glad to give you a hand.
