    Default renaming email account

What is the best way to rename an existing cPanel email account (e.g. name1@domain.com to name2@domain.com) without using forwarders?

I read in a really old thread that you can't rename but can create a new email account and then migrate existing mail data from the old to the new account. But, we're not sure what to do in terms of Courier mail data and/or Dovecot to make sure all the email is copied over successfully. Can anyone give advice as to what data exactly needs to be copied?

There might be a better way but a way that works is to

    1) create the new email account
    2) move all of the emails from the old to the new
    3) test the new one
    4) delete the old and create a foward

Mail is all located in /home/username/mail/domain.com/username/

Obviously make a backup before you start copying and moving stuff around
