Renaming files in filemanager

Hi there,

I'm not a computer genius by any means and I am having some trouble understanding what's going on when I rename my images in Gallery. I click on the file and click rename in the top right hand corner then submit. This works and in the list on the left I see that the file name has changed. But when I go to check this on my admin on site it does not show that the file name has changed. No matter how much I refresh the pages. Does anyone know what's going on? Do I need to dump all of the images from my site and re-upload them to the site with the newer file name? Or can this file manager rename work as a cheat to that? It is quite a task to remove all 700 odd images from my site and would like to avoid this if possible!
