Exclamation Reseller DNS Does Not Migrate Correctly

    Hello,

It has become apparent to me that reseller DNS settings do not properly transfer during a server-to-server migration via WHM. While the resellers DNS settings within the WHM "Reseller Center" will be maintained, their sub-accounts DNS zone files will no longer reflect these settings.

For instance, a reseller may set their DNS settings to the following:
    NS1: ns01.resellerdns.com
    NS2: ns02.resellerdns.com

These NS servers then correctly appear when customer accounts are created. You can see them within the zones by AXFR the entire zone or by viewing the NS records. You can also see them clearly through the WHM console.

However, when a full server transfer occurs, these zones do not properly migrate. Instead, the root user's DNS settings (or whatever user is performing the transfer) is assigned to all accounts which are transfered. So if the root DNS settings under "Basic cPanel/WHM Setup" are ns01 and ns02.rootdns.com, those NS servers appear in all customers accounts.

This results in NS mismatching, as the users records at their domain registrar may state their dns is ns01.resellerdns.com, but yet the records at the server say ns01.rootdns.com. This can (I believe) slow down zone lookups (ever so slightly) or even cause a major problem if the root DNS is not correctly set (as the DNS request would be delegated to the root DNS servers, which could be set wrong/not set at all on some servers).

Last, this results in an anonymity issue for some resellers, depending on the default nameservers configured on the server. It also simply looks unprofessional.
