    Default /scripts/upcp hang

    My server /scripts/upcp --force hang at Updating services & databases... and I ps -aux see stop the scripts/updatefrontpage --auto. please help

    yep. just tried to update and mine is hanging both WHM and/or via SSH.

    Here's the WHM text

    still at 0% after 30 minutes.

    Each time I kill the upcp process(es) the Master and the Slave and then retry, each hanging. This last time I killed the firewall before beginning, with no change.

    In SSH, I'm using the /scripts/upcp --force

    current setup is
    WHM 11.23.2 cPanel 11.23.3-R25971
    CENTOS Enterprise 5.2 x86_64 on standard - WHM X v3.1.0

    Backup , then move away the "__" files in /var/lib/rpm
    Kill the hung rpm process

    This should resolve the issue

    It did in mine, thanks. I'm monitoring my update now. the "__" files -- are they to be moved BACK?

    You'll only _need_ them help recover your rpm database if there is something seriously wrong with it. You can probably just remove them if everything is still ok in a few days.

    yeah, I spoke/wrote too soon. Server crashed after hanging at 40%.

    rebooting now. I'll try another upcp after / if it comes back. I'll update this thread, even though I know this isn't a support forum.

    UPDATE: Ew. Nasty server crash during the above mentioned update, and that backup was needed. quite nasty. I didn't expect it, and not really sure what to make of it. The core Cpanel files look okay, but for some reason every folder and file in the home directory was shoved into the last alphabetical user directory, leaving almost nothing in the /home directory itself. Yep, user "wyzzy" (/home/wyzzy) was chock full of everyone else's user folders. I'll take this to support if I can't get everything back to where it was before.
