Default /scripts/upcp & PERCRAID crashes server

We run on Dell boxes using PERCRAID controllers. Every time upcp runs, it crashes the servers!

We see this if we run it manually:
    Code:
PHP version file is up to date
    Doing a manual update...
Cpanel updates are coming from layer2.cpanel.net

    fileutils passes checksum
    findutils passes checksum
    net-tools passes checksum

    Buggy hardware detected!!
    Skipping Disk Integrity Check
The following controllers have problems with S.M.A.R.T:
3ware PRECRAID 3w-xxx Promise and FastTrack
    Checking /dev/sda....OK
After the /dev/sda check the server simply dies...

I open a ticket on this and I am hoping someone will look at this right away because as it is, our servers die every night at exactly the same time.

    Ticket is 21449.

    Thanks.

I have fixed (or disabled) this error by doing this:

    Code:
    touch /var/cpanel/disablesmartcheck
This skips the hardware check and does not cause the server to crash.

Glad (well not really) to see I am not the only person having this problem. I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out what was causing the crashes. It is weird though, of my two 2650's it only happens on one. The difference between the two are only processor speed and the amount of RAM installed.

I submitted a bug report for this Monday. Haven't heard anything back yet.

I removed this line from upcp and everything worked fine from there on out:

    system("/scripts/smartcheck");

Nick -- can we please escalate this -- people using PERCRAID with automatic updates might wake up to find their server has crashed. BTW its 'PERCRAID' vice 'PRECRAID'

What does it mean that it is fixed? Is it fixed so that we dont need to disable it manually from now on?

I had the same problem with an Adaptec 2120 U320 SCSI RAID Card (Raid 5)!
