Search engine problem

Hi, I have an account on a shared host with cpanel. My problem is that search engines seem to be listing my site with "There is no website configured at this address." the default cpanel page. I think the problem may be with my zone records, my type A record points to the shared IP that I use (although my account is really like 255.255.255.255/~myaccount) if you go directly to that IP you get the default Cpanel page, but if you go to the domain name everything is fine. Could this be causing the problem? And if so how might I fix the problem?
I may just be a bit over eager I only set the site up fully about a month ago and got spidered by Yahoo before my account was properly set up and displaying the default page. But this was about a month ago and i would have thought it would have sorted it's self by now.

Search engines would go to your domain name, not your IP.
