Send template email with access data to an user automatically

Hello:

I have been just wondering if there is a way to send the typical "templated" email to an user, to his contact email address configured at his account, with current access data...

Something like clicking a few times anywhere at WHM, and sending to the user an email with: URLs of Cpanel, user and password, Ftp server, ports.. etc, etc..... maybe based on a template.

If not, don't you think maybe it is time to implement this???? I think it would be very easy to enable this addon at WHM, and very useful if you do not use something like modernbill or WHMcs...

The main issue you will experience with attempting this functionality is retrieving the password. Keep in mind that the password for a cPanel user is stored as a standard Unix user, and as such cannot be retrieved in a way to present the password in plain text.

Typically billing applications handle the initial email with this information. Note that in the cPanel and webmail interfaces: FTP and Email have auto configuration options (as well as manual configuration instructions).

However, it is a nifty idea - perhaps you should submit this as a feature request to http://bugzilla.cpanel.net then paste a link to your feature request here so others can vote on it as well and add their own commentary.

Yeah, I forgot that passwords are system encrypted... of course.

But it would be great to send an email such like that with a new password.. of course, only root could do it through WHM... totally customized via HTML.

These are interesting ideas, but let's not forget how secure email is. cPanel passwords are one of the few things I won't email a client. I give them that over the phone. Of course, I can't prevent what they do with it after that.

Sniffers???? does they fright you? or just the administrators of the SMTP servers (they could do cat the mail of course)?

How many clients do you have????????? Actually, I am working with 600-700, and I used to do with 5000 few years when working at other hosting company.... Consider as well each client could have 2-3 or even 15 cpanel accounts... if you think I can phone them to give passwords, just as remembering passwords (the mosts), you are a bit crazy... Only the phone taxes.... I could even send postal letters.... pfff... maybe carrier pigeons...

Email is insecure, but I fight against it in my network.... if the client WIFI is insecure, well... it is not my business... if you think at it, phone could also be "connected" and letters could also "dissapear"..

Consider too, the possibility to be sniffed when sending a simple pass to a client by email is really low.. 0,001% by example???? If sniffed, there are backups stored daily. Also are logs........ also the client could enter and modify password on his own when receiving email, attach it at the body.. NOT ALL THE RESPONSABILITY SHOULD BE YOURS.

LOL, You're point is well made and taken. You're also right that I'm dealing with a lot less clients than you are
