I run our server with Callouts disabled but Sender Verify enabled. I recently upgraded to R18404 (i'm usually only a week behind on updates, no more).
We have a customer who runs MS Small Business Server (SBS) and it handles their faxes. Faxes are sent from:
SBSFaxService@THEIRSERVER.LOCAL
It used to be that if I had thier IP addresses whitelisted in the Exim Configuration Editor, our server would continue to accept mail from that FROM address while still rejecting others that fail sender verification (which is fine).
Since the update, no matter if I add the IP address of their server to the Whitelist to skip SMTP checks and Whitelist their IP from any RBL checks, it still rejects on Sender Verify.
Something appears to have changed recently. Can anybody confirm?
There is a great thread on these forums regarding ways to whitelist certain senders. However, the code mentioned in there doesn't even exist in Exim any longer. the code I have in exim.conf looks completely different with regard to sender verification than it does in that thread.
So I ask again - is anybody else familiar with any _very_recent_ changes in the exim.conf code that handles Sender Verification?
Thanks
Mike
