Serious issues with CPPOP

For the last week or so, cppop just stops working. The process is still showing in top, but it just won't budget. Attempts to send mail do nothing but return errors, a restart of cppop fixes this. Short of setting a cron to restart cppop every hour, is there something I can do to fix this? Its only happening on one server, the rest are fine. I can't find anything in the logs when it stops either.

Somebody might have a highly warped inbox file that is hanging cppop whenever they attempt to grab it. if it's running as an active process, you should be able to get some idea of what the issue is by either connecting to it from the command line
(telnet localhost 110)

or strace it for an idea of what it is hanging on.

(strace -p CPPOP_PID_NUMBER)

that should turn up some more detail.
