Server going 'down' on up2date

Hi,

I have got a problem with the automaticly (don't know who/what) running of up2date. Every so many hours (10am, 11am, 1pm) at about 00.02/00.03/00.04 mins past the hour an 'up2date --nox -u' get run. This results in the server not allowing connections by SSH, FTP, HTTP, mail etc. I can still ping the server and it is still up.

Any body got any idea what I can do to solve this?
