    Exclamation server load

    I find it is very slow to connect to our server today. So i went to whm->service status, and i saw: server load : 1.13(1 cpu) with red light. What shall i do?

    Check it again :-) Server load spikes for several reasons, backups, large mail queue then comes back down, the problem is when it spikes and stays up, 1.13 does not really tell you anything except to watch and see if it climbs then investigate what the problem it. Of course servers with 512 memory do that alot as well, how much memory do you have on the server?

    I went to whm->server information, got the below information:

    Current Memory Usage total used free shared buffers cached
    Mem: 504616 413764 90852 0 16400 100300
    -/+ buffers/cache: 297064 207552
    Swap: 1048784 213452 835332
    Total: 1553400 627216 926184

    I think 1553400 is the memory on our server, right? BTW, i run "top -c" and find "gzip(backup process)" take most of cpu. How could i fix this problem?
