Shared IMAP Folders
Is there currently a way to define an Inbox as a shared folder? I'd like to allow users to log in to their email, and see the inbox of a central account. Is this possible to do using cPanel and Courier?
Note: - See Courier's documentation here - I mixed up Exim and Courier. Last edited by bpat1434; 10-02-2007 at 10:20 PM. Reason: Fixed issues, added link |

While that is not possible through the cPanel/WHM interfaces, perhaps you can elaborate on why you need this functionality and perhaps we can work on an alternative solution such as forwarding email sent to 1 account to multiple other accounts?

Yeah, I guess that would work. But I'd still much rather have a shared folder. The reason being that I'd like to make it easier for the mods with email addresses already to check that one folder. So rather than logging out and logging in again, they can just subscribe to the shared folder. It's just a matter of convenience.
I guess I'll have to settle with one IMAP account that all users log into for now since it seems shared IMAP folders aren't supported through cPanel (or WHM) yet ... though it would be a nice feature to have. |

You're more than welcome to submit a feature request for this functionality to http://bugzilla.cpanel.net

So affectivly you want the facilites that Exchange has? Shared folder, etc etc?
I am not aware this being possible in IMAP - I am 100% sure this is an exchange thing only.

Shared folder's aren't an Exchange thing, it's an IMAP standard (not sure of the RFC though). Courier I know supports it. You can set them up in Squirrel or Horde Mail. The only problem is, there's no easy "switch" to configure the email server to allow shared folders.
I'll log a bug request for this. |
