Default Slow loading of Cpanel / WHM pages

    Hi,

On my VPS server I have a very high delay when opening any WHM or cPanel page. It sometimes takes up to 30 seconds to open it. The problem is cPanel is doing a LOT of IO when opening the pages. Is this a known problem and is there any remedy for it? We never encountered such problems until recently we changed to this server containing cPanel 11.

The server hosts a few very small websites and has enough memory and processor power left, the websites run perfect, very fast even, only in cPanel/WHM/webmail/etc is very slow.

I am using the latest RELEASE version.

    Any ideas?

    Hi,

It seems that this problem is occured after the new release.
    I have the same problem.
I think we have to wait to the next update.

Since upgrading our freebsd boxes to Cpanel 11 we have noticed that things like account creation now take much longer, anywhere from 2-3 times longer, to complete.

The serveral nodes I setup recently have been very snappy with cP11. Even when running off the cache, theres no cpanel / whm loading issues. Things render in just a second or two at most very much like a dedi with minimal VE resources allocated to each.

Perhaps you have node issues. Are you in control of the node or just a single vps?

I am not in control of the node, but have close communication with the node administrator and he tells everything looks fine but can't explain the loading issues also.

Could it not be a configuration setting that is causing this high IO? It seems that some people have troubles and some don't. Are you all using the latest Build 16448?

Try searching the forum for LIMIT, RSS (or maybe it's RS) and load. I think there has been some advice given by cPanel personnel on similar issues.

I ran into the same issue with cpanel and webmail being VERY slow when I upgraded to cpanel 11, BUT it only happened for some clients... maybe 1 out of 4 clients. And it doesn't happen for me, regardless of whether I am logging in with a Mac, Linux, or Windoze computer, regardless of the browser... Internet Exploder, Firefox, Safari, etc..., and regardless of whether I am logging into my own cpanel, or the client's cpanel. I can even be logging into the clients cpanel at the same time that they say they are having a slow connection, and I am not experiencing the same thing.

I have found no common thread to those clients who have trouble.. People with problems run the same range of OS and browser that I mentioned above as having no problem with myself... I would not have been surprised in the least if it was glitch that only happened in IE on Windoze, but that is not the case.

The server load is totally normal during these episodes, and regular HTTP, POP, SMTP, FTP connections are just fine. It is only cpanel-based web services like cpanel and webmail that are affected.

Has anyone else experienced this? It is extremely frustrating to try to trouble-shoot a problem that isn't happening to me, but which is too wide-spread to just blame on one or two customer's own computers.

    Any solutions?

    Thanks!

The problem in my case was a bad performing SAN. Transferring the VPS to a new one solved this problem.

Oh... I have a dedicated server, and except for the slow cpanel/webmail issue, it seems to be performing well.

Maybe someone else has seen what I've got here?

I was using mbox, but last weekend I upgraded to maildir, then forced upgrades on exim, courier, and cpanel, but clients still report the slow webmail and cpanel.

I had really hoped that either the maildir conversion, or the cpanel upgrade that I was able to do once I was using maildir, would have done it, but apparently not.

Sounds more like network issues. Not with your network, but with your customer's connection/routing to your server(s).
