Yes there is...But you have to have a SMS gateway installed in your server. Try search in some search engine to SMS gateway.
Is there any decent ones you can recommend?
clickatell.com <- we use them and they have great prices and are fairly reliable. We use the email option, so all we need to do is send an email to our personalised address and it SMSes it, its very easy to implement.

is there as such as 'free' because it's only so the server can send me messages if something fails.
Some mobile providers actually have a special email address (for example yourphonenumber@yourphoneprovidor.com), and you can just send an email and it will be a free SMS.

If you have Cpanel you can configure it to send out a message to your pager, your messanger app or e-mail. Otherwise I don't thing soo.
Yea i do, but it doesn't like to send for some reason, can you point me in the correct direction to get an email address like number@provider.com so it will send me text messages?
In my country and with the Vodafone that system of e-mail sending trough SMS don't work for a couple of years, seems to be block.
But you can try by yourself.
