Default Some customers cannot login to their cpanel

Since cpanel updated something (stable release) last week several customers cannot login to their cpanel.

Error messages reported: invalid syntax error (generated by internet explorer) and the cpanel Access Denied error.
However, when i try to login to the customers cpanel it works no problem.

I think something cpanel changed in the way users login is responsible for this, causing problems with certain browser configurations.

BTW. there is a bug in the new lost password function: it allows demo user to change password.
Within hours of this cpanel update i had someone attempt to change my demo password, luckily it failed because i have the contact address set to my email and the /home/demo directory chattr +i

Sounds like you were hit with an incomplete update. See this thread or this thread.

You will need to delete the /usr/local/cpanel/cpanel file and then do the cpanel update.

    rm -f /usr/local/cpanel/cpanel
    /scripts/upcp

I'd suggest switching to release updates first. It's likely safer.

    I already seen the thread.
This problem is not a incomplete update.
Its been happening before the incomplete update thing started.

I already have updates set to stable, which is safer then release.

Not always, for example we run edge on most servers and any issues that have arisen have been corrected usually in no more than 24 hours.

Are you tring to access cPanel by the URL: http://user:password@domain.com:2082 ?

If so, IE now has a patch that disables that freature.

Let me know if that is how you access your cpanel...

I think you're on to the problem. I was thinking the same thing.

I was using this URL for people to see the demo from my site:

    http://usernameassword@domain.com:2082/

Now it's not working, your post explains why. Is there anyway around this "patch" of Microsoft's?

It works in every version of Windows, except for XP.

If it works with every other version of windows, you would think that they could make it work with XP.

It's not CPanel. It's Windows IE, if someone updated to security patch then they can't login with usernamew it doesn't amtter waht OS.

You can disable it, if you really really want to open a security hole...
