Something happened to our MySQL

Woke up this morning to find our control panel littered with these messages;

ERROR 1045: Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: YES) ERROR 1045: Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: YES) ERROR 1045: Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: YES) ERROR 1045: Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: YES) ERROR 1045: Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: YES) /usr/bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed error: 'Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: YES)' /usr/bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed error: 'Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: YES)'

All our users are seeing this in the left side of their control panels. Even though MYSQL seems to be working nobody can get into mysql to administer it. We upgraded yesterday to the lastest version. What happened here?

Fixed, i had to use "Reset Local Mysql Root Password" to correct the problem. The other root password function didnt do it. Strange that this should appear during the night and be ok during the day after we upgraded.

I have this same error but Reset Local Mysql Root Password does not solve the problem.

Any ideas anyone?
