Default spam assassin white lists not working

    Hello,

I have enabled spam assassin via Cpanel. I have configured spam assassin to allow messages that score as spam when they are from *.domain.com, *@domain.com, and user@domain.com. I have tested sending html style mail from 'user@domain.com' and it is still getting tagged as spam. Is there something else i need to do to get the whitelist feature working?

    Thanks,

    Bob

    Default hmmm...

Though enabling spam assassin via Cpanel definitely turns the thing on none of the changes I am making via Spam Assassin configuration are taking (ie. required hits, rewrite subject, white lists). Any idea why the configs are not taking? Do i need to restart spam assassin somehow?

    THanks,

    Bob

    Default hmmm cont.

I am not finding any threads that describe the problem I am having except a vague reference to changing the default email address for the domain, which I have not done. Any suggestions for things i can look at to see why configurations for spam assassin are not saving?

    Thanks,

    Bob

    Default

There should be a file named

    /home/account/.spamassassin/user_prefs

that stores these settings. Does it exist and if so, what is the ownership and permissions of the file?

Default Thanks for the reply Noldar.

The file does exist and the permissions are 644.

I notice today that the last edit I made yesterday has taken effect. Edits today have not. Makes it difficult to experiment but at least it is working. Is it necessary to restart something to get configuration settings to take?

    Thanks,

    Bob

    Default I take that back...

edits are showing up in the prefs file as soon as I make them through Cpanel. Not sure what is different from yesterday. I will run some test emails through and see what happens. Thanks for showing me that file Noldar, that probably did the trick.
