Default Spamd keeps failing

Any ideas why spamd keeps on failing? Should I just stop using it? (If so how do I turn it off?)

It's been gradually getting worse, started getting the emails a few months ago but recently it's built up into getting a few of these emails an hour

Any help appreciated.

Try /scripts/fixspamassassinfailedupdate and see how it goes there .

Thanks,

ERROR: the required HTML::Parser (version 3.43) module is not installed. at lib/Mail/SpamAssassin/Util/DependencyInfo.pm line 293, <STDIN> line 1.

HTML is used for an ever-increasing amount of email so this dependency
is unavoidable. Run "perldoc -q html" for additional information.

***************************************************************************
NOTE: the optional DB_File module is not installed.

Used to store data on-disk, for the Bayes-style logic and
auto-whitelist. *Much* more efficient than the other standard Perl
database packages. Strongly recommended.

***************************************************************************
NOTE: the optional Mail::SPF module is not installed.

Used to check DNS Sender Policy Framework (SPF) records to fight email
address forgery and make it easier to identify spams. (This is preferred
over Mail::SPF::Query.)

***************************************************************************
NOTE: the optional Mail::SPF::Query module is not installed.

Used to check DNS Sender Policy Framework (SPF) records to fight email

preferred instead of this module.)

***************************************************************************
NOTE: the optional IP::Country module is not installed.

Used by the RelayCountry plugin (not enabled by default) to determine

the domain country codes of each relay in the path of an email.

***************************************************************************
NOTE: the optional Razor2 (version 2.61) module is not installed.

Used to check message signatures against Vipul's Razor collaborative
filtering network. Razor has a large number of dependencies on CPAN
modules. Feel free to skip installing it, if this makes you nervous;
SpamAssassin will still work well without it.

More info on installing and using Razor can be found
at http://wiki.apache.org/spamassassin/InstallingRazor .

***************************************************************************
NOTE: the optional Net::Ident module is not installed.

If you plan to use the --auth-ident option to spamd, you will need
to install this module.

***************************************************************************
NOTE: the optional IO::Socket::INET6 module is not installed.

This is required if the first nameserver listed in your IP
configuration or /etc/resolv.conf file is available only via
an IPv6 address.

***************************************************************************
NOTE: the optional Mail::DomainKeys module is not installed.

If this module is installed, and you enable the DomainKeys plugin,
SpamAssassin will perform Domain Key lookups when Domain Key
information is present in the message headers. (Note that new versions
of Mail::DKIM render this module superfluous.)

***************************************************************************
NOTE: the optional Mail::DKIM module is not installed.

If this module is installed, and you enable the DKIM plugin,
SpamAssassin will perform DKIM lookups when a DKIM-Signature
header is present in the message headers. (New versions of this module
support both Domain Keys and DKIM, rendering Mail::DomainKeys obsolete.)

***************************************************************************
NOTE: the optional Encode::Detect module is not installed.

If you plan to use the normalize_charset config setting to detect
charsets and convert them into Unicode, you will need to install
this module.

Hmmmmm .... then you may need to install those missing mosules manually ..

Try following

/scripts/perlinstaller Mail::SPF Mail:omainKeys
/scripts/perlinstaller Mail:KIM Encode:etec

You can check http://forums.cpanel.net/showthread....tect+module+is link fore reference.

Let us know if any thing else needs to be done.

Thanks,

Thanks - I've tried that, will let you know how it goes. Do you know how I can deactivate Spam Assasin if I need to? I don't think anyone uses it on my server anyway. I tried it a while back and it hardly stopped any spam :-/

Nope... still getting them

I've disabled it for now as it adds a lot of load in the day time (Main >> Server Configuration >> Tweak Settings >> then unchecked and saved). Will see if there's any more help and will try it again in the evening.

Any other ideas? I updated perl and the kernal last night.

Hi Andy

I searched the forums too - although looks like you got better results (shame google can;t index the pages, I usually use it to search specific forums).

I'm gonna try this now:

Deactivate SPAMD via the WHM >> Service Manager
Don't forget to follow the instructions there: SpamAssasin Server (if you choose to disable this, you should disable SpamAssasin in tweak settings as well)

SSH to your server and try the following commands:
/scripts/reseteximtodefaults
/scripts/eximup --force

Back again to WHM >> Service Manager and activate SPAMD and SpamAssasin
I already upgraded perl to 5.8.8.

Will keep updating the thread. Cheers for your help.

Hiya Guys,

Fixed this issue by upgrading the Mail-SpamAssassin to the latest version. Try the following steps ,

wget http://mirror.uta.edu/CPAN/authors/i...n-3.0.4.tar.gz
tar -xzvf Mail-SpamAssassin-3.0.4.tar.gz
cd Mail-SpamAssassin-3.0.4
perl Makefile.PL PREFIX=$HOME
make
make install
chattr -ia /usr/
chattr -ia /usr/bin
mv spamd/spamd /usr/bin/
mv spamc/spamc /usr/bin/
/etc/rc.d/init.d/exim restart
/scripts/restartsrv spamd

Hope this will work for you guys also : -)

First uninstall Spamassassin.

WHM > Service Manager > spamd
WHM > Tweak Settings > SpamAssassin

Then disable it in the Feature Manager > Edit disabled and untick it.
Then you need to remove it from any accounts that have it enabled in your /home partition(s):

find /home/ -name .spamassassinenable -maxdepth 2 | xargs rm -fv

Install Spamassassin using the following steps.

WHM > Service Manager > spamd
WHM > Tweak Settings > SpamAssassin
Then Enable it in the Feature Manager > Edit Enable and tick it.

perl -MCPAN -e 'install Digest::SHA1;'
perl -MCPAN -e 'install Mail::SpamAssassin;'
perl -MCPAN -e 'install Mail::SpamAssassin::NoMailAudit;'
rm -Rf /home/.cpan
rm -Rf /root/.cpan
rm -Rf /root/.cpcpan
/scripts/updatenow
/scripts/perlinstaller
/scripts/perlinstaller --force HTML::Tagset
/scripts/fixspamassassinfailedupdate
/etc/rc.d/init.d/exim restart
/scripts/restartsrv spamd

This will fix the issue
~~~ Cool Buddy ~~~
