    Default Spammer

There is a spammer from this forum... just got this through on my email:

    Hi,

I saw you were a member of the CPanel forums and would like to know if you were interested in receiving more information on our company providing 'CPanel Server Management' service and '24x7x365 Server Monitoring with Reboot' service all for $29/month.

Please call or reply if you want me to send more information.

    Thanks,
    John

Glad someone posted this. I forwarded it to every abuse contact I could find, and got this response back from the person sending it:

    Charlie:

This is NOT spam. We simply saw you were a member of CPanel and
sent you an e-mail asking if you wanted more information. There
was no advertisement included and no fake information at all or of any kind.

We are deeply sorry if it offended you so badly, you are not on any spam
list and you will not receive anything else from us.

    Thank you,
    John
Now, is it my imagination, or is he lying? He sent me commercial mail after obtaining my information from a webpage with which he has no affiliation, other than being a member himself. That is SPAM.

What's funny is that my company is CLOSED, and has been since November ...

The user that sent the message was coastinc. CoastInc and FastServerManagement are apparently the same company.

The response I quoted above was sent from 'sales@coastinc.com' and not fastservermanagement ... so that pins them as the same person/company based on the usage of 'we' in their email.

    Default Longer history of spamming

    Hi,
Do a groups.google.com search for coastinc. Looks like these guys have a much longer history of spamming than just hitting a few of us forumgoers.
Once, it could be chocked off to inexperience, but twice or more is unacceptable.

    Regards,

Maybe you actually need to read those posted listings? Only the first one had to do with them. the rest were accounts on their servers and you will not find any ISP that does not have some problems with spammers. Try putting the Planet in the same group and if your computer does not blow up from all the listings - you are lucky.

What is important to look at is to see if the phisher reported on the 31st of October is gone.

    Hi,
I did read the posts, and actually two of them (possibly three) were directly related to coastinc. I see this as enough to show a prior history.
You all can jodge this as you want to.

It is funny that Ethan & John (seems to be the only 2 FSM employees) at Coast Inc. aka FastServerManagement.com have the time to send spam in an effort to get new clients when they don't even take care of the ones they currently have!

I am VERY dissatisfied with Ethan & John at FastServerManagement.com, aka Coast Internet Solutions! When the going gets tough & they have no clue how to fix a problem they say the ticket was lost or they do not reply at all & when the client gets mad they finally reply with statements such as "We don't want to deal with your complaints!" What the heck kind of company tells their clients that? Not one that will stay in business long I tell you. We would not have complained if they communicated with us & quit making excuses!

We have dealt with Ethan at Coast Inc a few times over the past 3 or 4 years & unfortunately it has ended with us parting ways with them due to their poor knowledge base on big issues & poor customer service! If you need good fast Server Management Company, take my word for it & stay away from them. I know I will from now on. They should change their name to SlowWorkstationJrTech.com

Now I just have to worry that they have created back doors into our server & will cause us undo harm. Seems to be that they like doing unethical things such as spamming.

    Hi.
I'm not supporting spamming, though I just read this negative post about Fast Service Management and have a couple words on the subject.

We've used FSM for the past year, and have gone through the usual ups and downs with them, same as our workings with other outsourced server management companies.

In all fairness, I think folks have to be a bit realistic since FSM charges only about $30 a month for virtually unlimited support time.

Yes, I wish all server management companies could be up on every potential downtime issue, and could "resolve" every support ticket 90% of the time within a couple hours.

Just my two cents: they are a decent group of folks to have in your back pocket, or at least as a backup in case your primary techs hit the wall in troubleshooting an issue.

    Best Wishes,

    Default I just wish

that I had the time you guys seem to have to get excited over a simple unsolicited offer of service and report it to "all the abuse organizations out there". I don't know these guys and haven't used their or any other tech service, (the tech support I get from beachcomber-creations.com is excellent.) but it takes all my "spam-dealing time" just dealing with all the porno and phishing stuff. Any offer of service I just consider and possibly save for more investigation. Seems like a tempest in a teapot to me. ...Now, if he had wanted to enlarge my privates, I might have been offended.
