Default Is SSH really needed ??

I am running Cpanel 6.4x and things are fine but I would like to lock down the machine as much as possible. Since we run all our servers in-house and can get to the consoles do we really need to have SSH running ?.

Does Cpanel or WHM need SSH for something it does or is SSH just for the users?. If I were to remove SSH from loading at all would it affect the WHM or customers Cpanel or updating of Cpanel ???.

    thanks.

Don't offer SSH to users becouse is very dangerous!

Hackers have some cpanel scanner and can give root access for your server throught guestbook.cgi

I recomand you to have shell access just as root and from a single IP.
