    Default SSH weirdness

I have a client who is having problems logging into ssh. We have password authentication turned off so he is using a public/private keypair. He can make contact with the server but as soon as he enters in his passphrase, the server disconnects him.

I have been able to connect fine using his private key and passphrase. I also verified that the firewall is not blocking his IP address.

Does anyone else have a suggestion in troubleshooting this perplexing problem?

    Thanks for any help.

once please flush the firewall and try out it.
note:- before you flush firewall take backup of /etc/sysconfig/ files.

    i hope it'll work.

do i know which firewall you are using. csf/apf/iptables

Thanks for the reply. I did flush the firewall but it did not help the client. We are using CSF.

Check the ownership and permissions of /home/user.

It should have an ownership and group of user.

It should have permissions of 0711.

That is not it. I already stated in my original post that I can connect fine. Thanks for the reply though.

Enable verbose or debug logging in sshd_config, start the sshd daemon on the console (in other words, don't background the process or use the init script to start the daemon) and have him connect. That might pinpoint the problem.

Depending upon the ssh client your customer is using, have him enable debug/verbose output in the client for extra help.
