    Default SSL stopped working

    All of a sudden our ssl stopped working for our server. I've tried httpd startssl and that doesn't seem to do anything. When I try to go to the secure site it just tells me that the page can't be found? I can ping it ok, but can't access it for some reason.

    Anyone have any ideas on what to start checking for?

    I've reloaded apache and upgraded cpanel to the current version...but still no affect...

    Also, when I restart httpd startssl it doesn't give me any errors...and no errors in any of the logs...?

    It can happen if you recompile apache or reboot the server and it "forgets" to restart https. To fix it you can just do
    service httpd stop
    service httpd startssl

    (Unless there are errors, of course)

    Yea, I've had that happen before, but I did try the httpd startssl and it didn't do anything, and there were no errors up front or in the logs....

    Did you kill apache before doing it? If you don't stop apache before running the command it will ignore the startssl command and will show no errors.

    I am having the same trouble. I tried
    service httpd stop
    service httpd startssl

    but still it does not work. Actually, it only doesn't work on the shared IP address.

    Anymore ideas?

    You also need to double check and see if there is:
    <IfDefine SSL>
    <VirtualHost xx.xx.xx.xx:443>
    entry in the httpd.conf for every domain with SSL cert.

    There's your problem.

    You must use a dedicated IP address to setup a SSL certificate, before you install the certificate you must set the domain up on the dedicated IP address.
