Default SSL Webmail Redirect - Reseller vs. VPS

    Hi,
I've read lots of other posts on this forum but I'm still have questions.

My goal is to have it such that when my clients head to webmail via SSL at www.mydomain.com/webmail, they actually wind up https://mydomain.com:2096/webmail/x3/?login=1.

What currently happens is that it redirects to: https://myhostingprovider.com:2096/webmail/x3/?login=1

    1. I understand if I get a commercial SSL (e.g. rapidSSL) and replace this SSL with the self-signed one, that it will eliminate all of the "self-signed" errors.

    2. But--I'm on a reseller account. And from what I've gathered, doing what I'm asking above is impossible in a reseller environment because:

    a) Even though mydomain.com/webmail is validated by my "real, non-self signed" SSL cert, cpanel and webmail are setup such that no matter what the "front-end" URL is, it will ultimately wind up at the "back-end" webmail URL -- which will be that of my hosting provider (https://myhostingprovider.com:2096/webmail/x3/?login=1) . And this is because it's just a global setting and how cPanel is designed.

    Is that a correct assessment?

    3. Iit is possible, therefore, on a VPS for me to have it whereby: www.mydomain.com/webmail winds up at https://mydomain.com:2096/webmail/x3/?login=1? Or would I need to go dedicated for that with my "own" top-level installation of cpanel?

I've seen lots of posts with the "tweak settings" option discussed, and since I don't even have that option on the control panel, I'm assuming that's only available on a VPS enabled box or above....

Thanks in advance for any help (and please let me know if any of the assumptions I've made above are incorrect).

    -R

    Just a follow-up. For #3 I'm doing it now with a VPS.
