Default stange problem when adding an account

i just got a new box setup and I cant figure this out for the life of me

ok my main IP thru http goes to the whm "no website configured at this address" page wihich i assume to be normal.

when I add an account in WHM, the page <ip>/~<username> is not accessable, and the main IP thru http goes from the "no website configured" to a dir listing with folders private, cgi-bin, images, and a text file postinfo.html

can someome tell me what i may have done wrong? i'm pretty sure the setup is correct, but obviously not

anyone? i cant figure this out

i guess the most simple way to explain is when i create a user account, the http://<IP>/~<user> isn't accessable, page cannot be found. it does create the entry in /home but i cant figure out what's wrong

account creation works find says its setting document root to /home/user/public_html and everything

    thanks

    Two things:

    1. You need a trailing slash:

    http://<IP>/~<user>/

    2. You need to make sure that you disable WHM > Tweak Security > mod_userdir

If 1. doesn't fix it and 2. is disabled (i.e. unchecked), try checking it (enable it) save, go back and uncheck (disable) it.

well that worked with the trailing / and i was gonna ask why then does the main htpp://<ip> still change, but i added an account and the http://<ip> still has the "no page here" thing, and it works which is quite strange. guess i fiddled with something right

thanks for the info... i'm happier now
