    Default ExtraCPUs

Thanks Joana... I set my cpanel.conf extracpus to 2 and still get the warnings. If I set it to 6, just to eliminate the warnings, then I *won't* get warned in a real situation... Is this the best cpanel.net can do? What is the magic with 6? Why recommend we "turn off" valid alarm notices with an overly high extracpus value?

    Thanks // Paul

Here's my warning with my extracpus set to 2:

IMPORTANT: Do not ignore this email. This is cPanel cpuwatch on ***.vosn.net!
While processing, the cpu has been maxed out for more then a 6 hour period. The current load/uptime line on the server at the time of this email is
    11:40am up 5 days, 5:39, 1 user, load average: 1.11, 0.37, 0.23
You should check the server to see why the load is so high and take
steps to lower the load. If you want stats to continue to run even
with a high load; Edit /var/cpanel/cpanel.config and change extracpus to a number larger then 0 (run /usr/local/cpanel/startup afterwards to pickup the changes).

Nice fix, but I guess I won't be warned anymore when real high load is happening due to some looping script or whatever...

I have done something I read elsewhere:

    1. set extracpus to 1 higher than it was
    2. run /usr/local/cpanel/startup
    3. do graceful reboot

I now still get the message but it seems fewer times a day and I get the message 1 time instead of 3 times everytime.

    Any help?

Well another user had a process using up a lot of the CPU usage. I had killed this now and haven't got any more warnings.... yet.

Do you think somehow it just used the wrong username? The username it states doesnt even have his site online yet. It's a one page "Coming Soon" thing.

editing that file does not work

plus I do no think that is accurate at all because when I look during the days at the loads I never see loads maintained at those levels for 6 hours

While processing, the cpu has been maxed out for more then a 6 hour period. The current load/uptime line on the server at the time of this email is 9:43pm up 9 days, 2:26, 0 users, load average: 4.92, 1.46, 0.75
You should check the server to see why the load is so high and take steps to lower the load. If you want stats to continue to even with a high load; Edit /var/cpanel/cpanel.config and change extracpus to a number larger then 0 (run /usr/local/cpanel/startup afterwards to pickup the changes).

    Something screwed here.

Do your stats actually run when you get the warning?
