    Add a couple backup nameservers to your /etc/resolv.conf

    echo &nameserver 66.96.193.2& && /etc/named.conf
    [/quote:f6419835ad]

    my resolv.conf looks like this now:

    domain fakat.net
    search fakat.net
    nameserver 127.0.0.1
    nameserver 216.87.222.2
    nameserver 216.87.223.253
    nameserver 66.96.193.2
    nameserver 195.222.32.10
    nameserver 198.6.1.83

    and I typed echo &nameserver 66.96.193.2& && /etc/named.conf
    which added that line to named.conf but still I get the same message when trying to update, and ideas how bring bind back?

    OK I added 205.162.50.228 rsync.cpanel.net layer2.cpanel.net to /etc/hosts and it updated cpanel, but when I try to restart bind from WHM I get this (same message as before):

    /usr/sbin/ndc: error while loading shared libraries: libdns.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

    guess that update didn't solve problem for me...what could be wrong?

    linux only uses the first 3 nameservers it looks like

    nameserver 216.87.222.2
    nameserver 216.87.223.253

    are not functional. I'm remove them and see if that makes a diffrence

    Nick,

    I just wanted to say thanks for the quick fix on this! I actually had one server that is 7.1 that was affected, and one server that is 7.2 that was unaffected, so I don't know what's going on there...

    Anyway, thanks for the quick fix! It is really appreciated.

    fixed too

    * added nameserver 66.96.193.2 to resolv.conf
    * executed /scripts/updatenow;sleep 10;/scripts/rpmup
    * removed nameserver 66.96.193.2 to resolv.conf
    * restarted the server (shutdown -r now)

    WORKS !
