Default Strange installation problem (installator looping over)

    Hi!
Im trying to install latest version of cpanel in my machine in OVH Datacenter. I have CentOS 5.3 x64 Final on it.

Installation takes me too long about 10h then i stopped it because its not possible in my machine 1Gbps Xeon 8GB RAM . During installation script looks like its still caring on- its shows me lots of dots.

After breaking installation I've checked cpanel log file (/var/log/cpanel-install-thread0.log
) AND I've found that installation script is looping over this question:

Select your continent (or several nearby continents) []

    (1) Africa
    (2) Asia
    (3) Central America
    (4) Europe
    (5) North America
    (6) Oceania
    (7) South America
Select your continent (or several nearby continents) []

Select your continent (or several nearby continents) []

    (4) Europe
    (5) North America
    (6) Oceania
    (7) South America
Select your continent (or several nearby continents) []
    .... etc....

size of the file is about 14GB?!

anyways installation script does not show any answer when it is running ( shows only progress showing lots of dots)

Any Ideas how to fix it? I have to get cpanel installed. I've used 'latest' installation script. Is it a bug in cpanel installation script? Any other ways of installation?

    I will appreciate help!

Not really, I've tried to configure cpan manually at first launch to avoid configuration in the cpanel installation process, but this fails too.

    Anyone opened a ticket yet?

    I think i found a solution.

    Run first

    yum upgrade
then yum install perl gcc make automake
    after that run command
    "cpan"

and it will ask you some questions including

    (1) Africa
    (2) Asia
    (3) Central America
    (4) Europe
    (5) North America
    (6) Oceania
    (7) South America
Select your continent (or several nearby continents) []

when you finish, run cpanel installer.
I'm installing cpanel now will let you know when it finish.

Well, that was the solution I tried before with no luck because the installer doesn't find the required perl mods (404 not found, etc) :/

    Default yum update

I found simple solution. I ran yum update before installation which installed latest perl libs (5.88)

You have to make sure that you got latest perl. you can also update only perl ( download latest perls lib from layer1)

cPanel install finished at: Mon Apr 6 16:26:16 2009 (81.1833333333333 minutes)!

I've restarted the cpan config (cpan -> o conf init) - installed without problems with other mirrors than the hosteurope.net
