    Unhappy strange mailserver problem on a cpanel server

    Hi,

    I have a very strange mail problem, some clients lost ther mailboxes without interaction.
    I log in into clients cpanel and all mailboxes are away. I see no boxes but on the server disc all mailboxes still exist. The customer can't also get his mail with his mailclient or webmail, auth failed....

    I must always re-create the mailboxes to get them back to life. My customers are very angry and i'm very confused. I have no idea whats going wrong with my server

    I habe nothing do, no reboot, no software changes, no updates, nothing.
    My System: WHM 9.9.8 cPanel 9.9.8-C118, Fedora 2

    Anybody have the same problem?

    BTW: all permissions on the mailboxes are sane

    Having the same problem, very alarming. Only happening to some customers. I have put a support request into cpanel.

    WHM 9.9.8 cPanel 9.9.8-C118 Trustix i686 - WHM X v3.1.0

    right, same on my box. Only happening to some customers, too.

    one hour ago, it happens also on my private account and two customers accounts, every hour 1-3 domains have this problem, i don't know what should to do but I'm lucky to read that I'm not the only one with this problems....

    my support ticket is 80829 if it is any help. I'm sure this must be happening on other systems too. I notice the mailbox files are still there in the users mail directory. We have had 4 customers on one server (none on another server). One was earlier this week and seemed to be a one off so I dismissed it. But this is def not the users.

    I think that is same problem, on my server users can`t login in to Horde webmail, only work if that users use default account!

    This is the first time I have been a victim of a new problem, how long does it normally take them to fix something like this?

    I have been having this problems as well.

    We also experienced a problem when adding a new account in WHM. Default email addesses were not being created and adding a new email account appered to work from within Cpanel, however, the account never really is created.

    I have found that this problem is related to the SMTP Tweak. Once I disabled it, I as able to create the mail account and successfully send a test message.

    After the account was created, I enabled the tweak again and the mail was still delivered.

    Scratch that. I am not sure it was delivered because the reseller jumped the gun and changed the DNS before I could even finish testing if the mail was actually delivered.

    Has anyone had this again since recent updates? We have had no complaints today on this.

    we are currently having this problem with 9.9.8-R119. i will upgrade to latest Current version and see if that helps.

    yes. this issue arises because mailscanner stops working. look for more info in this forum on how to fix this.

    btw, sometimes it fixes itself. re-installing exim does not help. this is more complex.
