Default Strange php file download problem

I have just noticed that if I put in http://www.petermcdonald.co.uk/ my browser tries to download the file to my pc BUT if i try any of the following it works no problem at all:-

    http://petermcdonald.co.uk/
    http://petermcdonald.co.uk/index.php
    http://www.petermcdonald.co.uk/index.php

All of these are pointing to the same place and there is no htaccess file that is doing anything (the only htaccess file that was in the directory or any parent directory has been deleted)

Does anyone know what could be the cause of this problem?

All of your 4 specified URLs are showing "coming soon" message at my end.

Theres been a few problems with apache interpreting what to do with php files on a few servers as you can tell by searching the forums. Sometimes this has forced php file downloads and other times the apache has worked then not worked.

We had the same problem a couple of days ago. Upgraded php to 5.2.2 updated the cPanel software to the latest stable release and then it mysteriously started working again.

However when I just visited the URL's above I did get coming soon too.

hmm strange the 1 http://www.petermcdonald.co.uk/ definitely for me downloads the file with a random name. The content of the file is correct (so it is being parsed by php no problem at all) and firefox shows it has a mime type of application/x-httpd-php (displayed in the download box).

As a side note I have the latest stable release of cpanel and the latest version of php (although I noticed this problem also occurred before the upgrade to the latest version of php 4)
