Strange problem with FTP

Hi all
i am facing something strange
the ftp is working well only if i enter the IP of the server as the host not the site!!
what is wrong with it?

Sounds like a problem with the DNS... is the IP the same when you ping the domain name?

ya it is the same IP & i reviewed the DNS settings in the domain comtrol panel


any ideas?

Make sure the a host name of ftp.yourhostname.com is in on your dns file. Make sure whoever has authoritive nameserver rights to the domain has the a host record on there dns of this ftp. And if its only intermittantly not seeing the ftp.x.com site, blame your ISP for poor dns lookups...
