subdomain dns issue

When adding a subdomain via WHM, it does not function, the dns settings are all messed up and subdomain does not load in the browser.

Have to manually correct the dns settings for the subdomain in order for it to function, any reason why this happens??

also, how can i change the default ttl time to 3600 instead of 14400? i edited the dns zone templates, and it changes the ttl for ns ns and txt, but for mail www ftp and a few other fields the ttl stays 14400

first thing I would do is to ssh into the server and then

tail -f /var/log/messages

and restart bind and watch for any errors. Sounds like a real good chance you may have a zone corrupted and not loading properly or a issue in the /etc/named.conf

fix any errors that show up so you get a clean reload then try the add subdomain and watch the /var/log/messages and make sure your getting a clean reload

then look at the data in the zonefile and we can work on it from there
