dave9000 is an unknown quantity at this point
time frame between edge updates

Just wondering why the EDGE/BETA updates have slowed down?

We used to get 2-5 updates a week on EDGE and now they are running 1-3 weeks apart ?

chirpy will become famous soon enough
I can only guess they're working on future developments. They have said that they're working on the Windows port and the development for apache2 support. We have recently had big changes in the cpAddons and inclusion of MySQL5 and support for the MySQL4.1.x releases that Nick alluded to having issues with. More than that, I do not know. They have indeed become less frequent since the begnning of the year.

Chirpy is quite correct. Development itself has not slowed, however, a lot of the projects being worked on are large projects which are developed outside of BETA/EDGE. (cPaddons, New Easyapache, etc)
