This "should" remove everything. (The names in chkservd may need to be verified)

    Code:
    rm -Rf /usr/local/jakarta

    service chkservd stop

    cd /etc/chkserv.d
    rm -Rf tomcat

    cd /var/run/chkservd
    rm -Rf Tomcat_JSP

    service chkservd start

    rm -f /usr/sbin/starttomcat
    rm -f /usr/sbin/stoptomcat

You'll need to remove the stuff from httpd.conf as well

    Thanks very much
by the way ... the reason that tomcat failed to restart was that i simply used the whm install servlet to install jsp on a user account
i ran the commands and tomcat was removed but does it really fully uninstall it ?
it didn't remove the user "tomcat"
and when i tried to reinstall .. installation went ok ... but http://domain.com:8080 never seem to want to open .....

The Tomcat Install is now complete.

    BEFORE YOU PROCEED ANY FURTHER

    Please ensure that http://servername:8080 works
    .
so what do i have to do if http://servername:8080 doesn't work ???
    thanks for your help

Ahh, yes but he had pointed out he had already restored the httpd.conf so that part was not required.

s_2_s - Look to WHM in Version 9.9.0-E27 DarkOrb has now added Tomcat as an Addon Module.

    Hi,

Just remove the Loadmodule and Addmodule directives for Java from httpd.conf like,

    LoadModule jk_module libexec/mod_jk.so and
    AddModule mod_jk.c
