    Arrow Tweak mod_userdir Security question

    Hi all,

I have this mod in use. However I want to allow new clients whose domain has not yet propegated to be able to see their site if testing.

If I uncheck the default nobody setting, I am guessing that would work. and until the domain propegates they should be able to use it. Or will the shared server IP always let them see it that way?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi there,

What you can do, is add the user name is as an additional user for the DefaultHost (nobody) account. You do not have to exclude protection for that account either. Just add the user names in, if you want multiple user names, separate them with spaces, ie:

    user1 user2 user3

    Thanks Chris,

However I am testing WHMCS to automate the signup process. In my welcome e-mail I inform them they can check their site at http://sharedserverip/~newsite

I don't think I would want to try and automate the addition to the default account, if it would even be possible.

    Any ideas?

What ChrisRHS has described is correct.

If the need is to allow accounts access without specifically setting up that username for access then I would consider having protection excluded for the default virtual host (owned by user "nobody"); I believe this will have the desired effect.
