Default Unable to access public_html folder from internet

Fresh install of cPanel on CentOS 5.1. Default cPanel/Apache home pages are coming up for the two sites that I created.

Placed files in public_html folder. Unable to access any files (i.e. index.htm) in the public_html folder from the internet. Getting 404 error.

    Please advise.

    Thanks.

Default Update: I am able to hit the site via IP

Update: I am able to hit the site via: http://IP_ADDRESS_OF_YOUR_SITE/~CPANEL_USERNAME and it works fine.

When I use the domain name vs IP, it's getting me to the server, but not the right place/folder?

    Thanks

The domain nameservers is set at the registrar to point to your nameservers, correct? Just want to ensure that when you type in the domain, it is actually getting to your server.

I think it is a DNS configuration issue with cPanel that I'm having. I am using one IP at this point for the DNS and web server. I also registerd a domain name (ns1.name.com, ns2.name.com) as my name server to use with my other domains. The A Records of the various domain names that I have changed the nameservers over to (ns1.name.com) seem to be returning the correct IP of the web server. Guess that indicates cPanel is functioning correctly as a DNS server?
cPanel is creating the folders/files in home ok, but the only thing I can get to display is the default Great Success page. Are the various domain names basically pointing back to the IP of the server and not to the correct cPanel folder/account? Any adivice would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you submit a support ticket, someone can login to your server and tell you definitively what is or is not happening and take corrective action - http://tickets.cpanel.net/submit
