Default unable to delete a folder

Hi, one of our clients has a couple folders on his site that he is unable to delete. I logged in as root and went to his home directory and can see the files, the 2 he wants deleted look different than the others in that they look like this

    foldername\r/

the rest of them just look like this:

    foldername/

When I try to delete them I get:

550 No Such File or Directory

    any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

yeah, I also tried renaming it, changing the attributes...nothing seems to work...any idea what the \r/ means? thanks

    Try:
    rm -fr 'foldername\r'
    The \r is like a \n
I think when you use the rm command without quotes, it actually translates the \r
I'm guessing this directory was made with a php/cgi script?

I have had the same problem in the past. This is how I resolved it:

Say the folder name is: test\1/

I ran this: rm -rf tes*

As long as there or no other files that start with 'test' you should be OK.

    Try:
    rm -fr foldername\\r
    rm -fr 'foldername\\r'
