Default unrouteable mail domains? why am I getting these from server?

This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

    ---hidden---@earthlink.net
    unrouteable mail domain "earthlink.net"
I've been getting these lately - seem to be unroutable emails and they have the full original email along inside these emails I get from the server. I've gotten them for cox.net, earthlink.net, hotmail.com, etc...

Is there something wrong? I'm not sure if these are getting delivered or not. I've gotten 9 so far in the last two days....

    help... thnx... - rYno

I've seen this problem once or twice if you're running APF. Flushing and restarting APF has got it going again.

A couple of test you can do from the server shell:

    telnet earthlink.net 25

See if you get an error. Also:

    dig earthlink.net MX

Make sure that you get a proper MX record reply.

...then my advice was moot since you can connect to the mail server for earthlink (shown by the telnet) and you can resolve the MX record (shown by the dig)

crap - anybody else? I'm still getting these from server... from different domains too like hotmail and stuff....

They're all mail sent out from users on our server - and include full messages - so its not like its fake spam or anything...

    help...

I have the same problem with scripts sending out email. Webmail and direct POP accounts work fine. So PHP mail is having trouble somehow....especially with GMAIL.

Help on this would be appreciated!@

reading some other Cpanel threads I found the answer.

    Go to Tweak Settings:

Turn off: Track the origin of messages sent though the mail server by adding the X-Sender headers (exim 4.34+ required)

    Restart Exim

    No more problems!

Yeah that solves the problem but do you have any idea why?

Default If it is from Mailman, follow the link below

I have fixed this problem which is common with mailman mailings. Look at this thread:

cPanel's WHM documentation says nothing about this feature so I am asking someone to explain this. Isn't this feature important to have to track outgoing emails (spam tracking)?

Also, why would (or does this) have to cause such errors? In what cases would it NOT cause an error if enabled?

    Just curious.
