upcp generates an error

While running an update of cPanel from RELEASE to CURRENT we had a few errors..

one was a perl module install failure, so how broken will my cPanel box be? how should I go about fixing it, if needed?

Hi Steve,

Can you try reinstalling Perl, by downloading the latest release : http://layer1.cpanel.net/perl588installer.tar.gz
Download using "wget http://layer1.cpanel.net/perl588installer.tar.gz"
Extract it & run the install script, it'd install all the necessary Perl modules & you can later on continue with the control panel upgrade. This has fixed most of my issues lately...

we already have the latest perl installed.. but I may try reinstalling it to see what happens..

perhaps the pm itself is messed up.?

Encode-Detect-1.00.tar.gz should already be on decompressed on your system. So just locate it and move there. Probably:

cd /home/.cpan/build/Encode-Detect-1.00

"patch -p0 filename" should be: "patch -p0 <filename"

filename being whatever you save the patch as

Then:

perl Makefile.PL && make && make install
