upcp log error: Unable to update the quota file (.ftpquota): [Permission denied]

Noticing this in my upcp log:

Looking in this user's cPanel, under FTP accounts, indeed there is an FTP user moe@example.com with a root directory of public_ftp. Disk Usage says "none" and Quota says "none"

Looked in /home/exampcom/public_ftp/ and I see:

-rw------- 1 65535 ftp 11 Feb 27 2008 .ftpquota

So, the file owner is some UID and must be causing this problem. What should this be set to? root? Or exampcom? I'm assuming the group of 'ftp' is correct.

It should be username of the domain, in your case is "exampcom".

chown exampcom.exampcom /home/exampcom/public_ftp -R

Thanks, this worked great. I also created some FTP accounts and confirmed that it is creating them as user.user, so not sure where the 65535.ftp stuff came from!

UID 65535 is the nobody account on some systems. Why that got used on yours, I cannot say.
