I have cPanel configured to only do manual updates.
However, recently, I received warnings via CSF that several system files had changed. This sent me into a bit of a panic.
After a bit of time, I found in the yum logs:
Oct 02 05:36:00 Updated: popt-1.10.2.3-20.el5_5.1.i386
Oct 02 05:36:13 Updated: rpm-libs-4.4.2.3-20.el5_5.1.i386
Oct 02 05:36:14 Updated: rpm-4.4.2.3-20.el5_5.1.i386
Oct 02 05:36:15 Updated: rpm-python-4.4.2.3-20.el5_5.1.i386
Oct 02 05:36:15 Updated: rpm-build-4.4.2.3-20.el5_5.1.i386
cpup is scheduled to run at 05:35, so I figure it was cpup that updated RPMs. I am left scratching my head as to why this happened if cPanel isn't set to automatically update?
Also, I actually delete the cpup email notifications (I think I'll begin leaving them at least for a few days). Is there a log file cpup writes to? I could not find one.
