    Default Update memcached -- how?

Hi. I want to update memcached from the current 1.2.0 to the latest 1.4.5.

I have EPEL and RIMO repositories (much more useful than the crap CentOS "Base" repo).

When I do "yum update memcached", I see that memcached.x84_64 1.4.5 has been installed. Somewhere.

Yet, when I restart memcached (service memcached restart) and do a "memcached -h", I still see 1.2.0.

    What's this? How do I upgrade 1.4.5?

    Thanks.

    Howdy,

You might try comparing the binary to what RPM things the binary should be. I installed it to test and I get:

    grimlock ~ # which memcached
    /usr/bin/memcached
    grimlock ~ # rpm -V memcached

    (on Centos6 x64)

    Thanks!

Not sure what that tells me. Here's the output from my machine:

    Code:
    > which memcached
    memcached is /usr/local/bin/memcached
    memcached is /usr/bin/memcached
    memcached is /usr/local/bin/memcached
    memcached is /usr/local/bin/memcached

    > rpm -V memcached
    S.5....T c /etc/sysconfig/memcached
    .....U.. /var/run/memcached

    > memcached -h
    memcached 1.2.0
    ..
So it's still the old one

    Try the following:

    Code:
    /usr/local/bin/memcached -h
    /usr/bin/memcached -h
You have two binaries of it and one likely differs from the other. If you do have two different binary versions, you could try to move the one you do not want and symlink it to the other one.
